Why is it important to be preventative?

As specialized pediatric therapists, we are typically called in AFTER there is a concern with baby. However, with the right information and simple skills, parents & caregivers can be empowered to prevent these issues before they ever begin. There is a small window of opportunity to teach your baby the foundational skills they need for future development. Waiting to provide the right opportunities can quickly cause delays in baby's development in all areas. Our goal with these courses is to teach you everything you need to know to prevent issues before they start, and to support you and your baby throughout your journey. Not only could these courses save you financial stress from doctor's visits, unnecessary interventions, and purchasing countless baby items that are doing more harm than good - they can also save you from emotional stress. Parents often find themselves stressed over an issue their baby is having without feeling they have the skills or knowledge to fix it. They are exhausted from lack of sleep and from worrying about baby's well-being. We want to eliminate that kind of stress by giving you the tools you need to be confident in these situations! - Gina Mydlo, PT, DPT - Laura Pierce, CCC-SLP, CLC Co-Founders & Teachers

Can't I just get this information from books or the internet?

No! There is too much conflicting information from unqualified professionals. As pediatric therapists, we have spent years studying infant development, and we have worked with thousands of families, helping them with even the most challenging issues. These courses are taught by pediatric speech language pathologist, and certified lactation consultant, Laura Pierce, along with pediatric physical therapist, Gina Mydlo. Not only are we experienced therapists, but we are moms too! So we get it, we've been in your shoes. We know what works and what doesn't! Because of our combined expertise, you can trust that we will give you the most comprehensive, innovative approach to infant development, all wrapped up in one convenient course that you can take at home, at your own pace.

Why do I need to learn about infant feeding & sleeping skills? Won't these things come naturally?

Feeding and sleeping are the building blocks of infant development. Baby must have successful feeding and sleeping skills to be able to thrive in every area of development. If your baby has difficulty eating, you will often see issues with sleeping, gross motor development, and even their temperament. The same goes with sleeping. If your baby is having trouble sleeping, they will be too fatigued and disorganized to focus on eating well and achieving their motor skills. Not only is this frustrating for your baby, but as a parent, it is extremely stressful (and expensive) to experience these difficulties. By taking this course, you will not only learn how to get baby to eat and sleep well, but you will do it with CONFIDENCE.

Why do I need to learn about infant motor skills? I thought babies developed at their own pace.

Baby develops at an amazingly fast rate and needs your to help them achieve all of their skills. There are many skills that baby is expected to develop during the first 6 months, and those skills build on each other. If a baby falls behind in one area or is missing a skill, that can slow the development of future skills, potentially causing delays in many areas. Babies rely on their parents to provide the correct opportunities to learn so that they can reach their full potential. As parents, we are responsible to teach our baby how to grow and learn in every area. Unfortunately, there is too much incorrect information that is constantly thrown at us daily, making it extremely difficult to know how to promote our baby’s development and prevent delays. As a specialized pediatric physical therapist, I can give you essential tips and tricks that you can do from the start to prevent delays and difficulties, so that you can give your infant their best start.

Parents with Newborn Baby

Why We Created Their Best Start

There are not many opportunities for parents to learn the essentials of infant feeding, sleeping, and motor development and how they can properly promote all of those skills for baby.

These are critical skills that not only promote baby's growth, but also give parents peace in knowing they have the skills to make baby comfortable and successful.

As pediatric therapists, we realized our collective expertise in this area was not easily accessible to parents. This is why we created Their Best Start - to give all parents access to the specialized information that promotes baby's growth.
